Vite di cartone

L’opera è realizzata a mano con pastelli secchi sulla superficie di 6 cartoni da imballaggio riciclati e assemblati.

I drammatici e spesso tragici avvenimenti di questi ultimi anni, legati alla fuga di migliaia di profughi da guerre e fame, mi hanno portato a riflettere sul legame “storico” tra questo materiale e la povertà. Nella mia mente sono risuonate parole della mia infanzia, ricordi di un paese che sembra aver perso la memoria, i nostri migranti che partivano con le valigie di cartone, così si diceva, e in fondo questo materiale povero è sempre stato anche l’ultima preziosa dimora di chi non ha più nulla e vive ai margini della società. In queste mie opere recenti il cartone (ri)assume il senso di fragilità di queste persone sospese tra la vita e la morte.

The dramatic and often tragic events of recent years, linked to the escape of thousands of refugees from wars and hunger, have led me to reflect on the "historical" link between this material and poverty. In my mind are words of my childhood, memories of a Country that seems to have lost memory, our migrants leaving with cardboard suitcases, so it was said, and in the end this poor material has always been the last precious home of those who live on the margins of society. In these my recent works, cardboard takes on the sense of fragility of these people suspended between life and death.
